1) What is ASSET?

ASSET is an online diagnostic test that assesses students' conceptual understanding of core skills in English, mathematics, science, social science and Hindi. The test can be taken in either the proctored or non-proctored modes. The ASSET online portal ensures that the questions used in the test are smartly picked from the rich database of ~60000 questions that Educational Initiatives has built over the past 20+ years.

1) What do I need to start an ASSET test?

You need to enter a valid test code followed by your student ID to start an ASSET test. The test code and student ID will be shared with you before the test. Your system also needs to meet certain requirements - please see the technical section below.

2) What is the duration of an ASSET test?

ASSET tests vary in duration depending on your class and subject combination. The number of questions and the duration of the test will be shared with you before you start the test.

3) What should I do if my internet or system stops working during the test?

Relax! You can resume your test from another device after your teacher enables your re-login. You will not lose time and your previous responses will be recorded.

4) What should I do if I face an extended power failure?

You can call us on our toll-free number, 1800-102-8885, between Monday to Friday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. IST). We will help you reschedule your test to another time.

5) What will happen if I miss your test?

You may be able to take the test on another day after speaking to your teacher and school. You will need a new test code. Your student ID will stay the same.

6) Can I attempt questions in any order during the test?

Yes! You can move between questions in any order during the test.

7) Is there negative marking for wrong answers?

No! Give your best during the test! Remember that ASSET is NOT a competitive test.

For proctored tests:


8) Can I move out of the test window during the test?

If you move out of the test window during the test, you will receive a system warning and your teacher will be notified that you have left the test window. Moving out of the test window is regarded as a suspicious activity.

1) What is an access code?

An access code is a 6 digit alpha-numeric code that you can use to access your school account. You will need this code to conduct tests, view student details and view teacher reports.

2) Do I need to schedule or plan tests in advance?

No, there is no need to plan a test in advance in the system. We recommend that you prepare a timetable that you can follow to conduct the tests so that your students are aware.

3) Is there a restriction on when I can schedule the tests?

No, you can do the test anytime after you have received your access code and have tried a few demo tests.

4) How many students can take the test at a given time?

This will depend on your internet speed and the number of computers available. You will need a 1 Mbps internet connection (for non-proctored tests) and 8 Mbps internet connection (for proctored tests) for 40 students to do the test simultaneously.

5) Do students get the same or different papers?

No, each student gets a different set of questions which are dynamically generated.

6) Is there a video/document that I can view/read before I start using the account?

7) What is a test code?

A test code is a 4-digit number which is class, section and subject specific. Students have to enter this test code to start a test. This code can be generated by anyone who has the school access code.

8) What will happen when the test code expires?

When a test code expires, no new students from that class and section can take the test anymore using this code. The students who have already started the test using this test code may continue taking it.

9) What should I do if the test code expires and I want more students to do the test?

You can generate a new test code for those students.

10) Should I be available when a test is going on?

Yes, you are responsible for generating the test code which the students need to start the test. This must be done just before the students start the test. You also need to be present to re-login a student, if needed.

11) What does it mean to enable re-login?

Sometimes, a student may accidentally get logged out or close his/her browser. In that case, the student can resume the test by using the same test code and student ID but he/she will need you to enable re-login for them. This is to preserve the sanctity of the test.

For proctored tests:


12) Can I end the test for a particular student?

Yes. On the proctoring page, you can end the test for a specific student by clicking on the red cross button on that student's tile.

13) Can I monitor a real time video feed of the student?

No. However, you can view the images that have been clicked using the students' webcams. These images are clicked at intervals of 30 seconds and give you a good picture of the students' behaviour. In addition, you can download the images taken of a single student or your entire class of students after the test is completed.

2) How does a student view his/her report online?

Go to www.assetdynamic.com, click on View Reports and then enter the report access key to view your online reports.

3) What is a report access key? How does a student get a report access key?

A report access key is a combination of letters and numbers that is unique for each student. He/she enters this key to view their online reports. The report access keys will be shared with students by their teachers.

4) When can students view their reports online?

Students can view their online reports 24 hours after taking the test.

5) Can teachers view their students' reports?

Yes. Teachers can view their students' reports from their teacher interface by logging in using their username and password.

Yes. You will receive soft copies (PDF files) of student reports (called Student MyBooks), teacher reports (called Teacher MyBooks) and management reports (called Management MyBooks).

8) Do students get certificates?

Yes. Each student gets a soft copy certificate depending upon their performance - outstanding, distinguished, creditable and participating.

1) What are the system requirements for taking an ASSET test?

Please see that students:
  • use Google Chrome (version 73 and above) OR Mozilla Firefox (version 54 and above) browsers
  • have a stable internet connection of at least 256 kbps (non-proctored tests) or 2 Mbps (proctored tests)
  • have a desktop computer or laptop (for proctored tests)
  • have a working webcam (for proctored tests)

2) Can students take ASSET on a mobile phone?

Non-proctored ASSET tests can be taken on a mobile phone but it is strongly recommended to take the tests on devices with a screen size of 8 inches or more. Proctored ASSET tests can only be taken on desktop computers or laptops.

3) What can be done if images are not loading during the test?
